I expect restrictions will get tighter as the number of MRs increase and more accidents happen. I've seen AirMap gradually adding more "no fly" zones. But my greatest fear is when a small drone, or a fleet of drones, is used in some kind of a terrorist attack.
When that happens, given the...
I think the no-fly zones make sense but the regulations are only going to get tighter. My greatest fear is that someone uses a MR, or a fleet of MRs, as some kind of a terrorist act, and it's only a matter of time. Then it will be Game Over.
I have seen blue and white helicopters on multiple occasions flying pretty low in Santa Cruz, my guess < 400'. I found out they were PG&E copters conducting some kind of gas pipe remote sensing.
I have my max altitude set at 400' but that's relative to the launch point. If I'm on top of a hill and fly out horizontally, it's 400' plus whatever...so be aware of that.
I have used the cached Google maps and it works fine for a few times until one day when the map is no longer there and I have to re-cache on my non-cellular iPad. Is there a time-out on the maps?
So the altitude as indicated on GO app is relative to the home point, and not the height above the ground during flight, right?
A good point to remember if there are hills around that are higher than your launch point...which is never a good idea anyway.
Most of my flying time now involves looking at the iPad screen rather than the Phantom, and it's often too hard to see the screen in bright daylight. I have yet to find a good sun shade so I made my own and thought I'd pass it along...
I created the design in CAD, printed the pattern on white...
I noticed that the intelligent Home Lock behavior is not like the previous firmware P3 "set direction" which the controls would be consistent regardless of how close it was to home point. Now there is a minimum distance before it becomes active. I just did a short test and when I engaged HL too...
I just did a v1.4.0010 firmware upgrade on the P3 aircraft which seemed to work (camera light turned solid green). But I can't get the RC to upgrade. I upgraded to the GO app. It told me I could not upgrade the firmware thru the app, so I put the .bin file (by itself) on the usb stick, turned on...
