    Video Without Cellular Service

Similar problem in Italy. Anyway I'm switching to a different machine, perhaps the Typhoon 4k. Interesting to see if the problem persists.

    Video Without Cellular Service

I can't figure out where I got that idea but thanks for straightening me out. Anyway, it leaves me wondering why my signal in Africa is so much worse than my signal in California.

    Video Without Cellular Service

It is a stock Phantom 2 Vision Plus. Thanks for the information. I really am confused about the role of cellular service which the "boosters" that DJI and FPV View apparently use?

    Video Without Cellular Service

I often shoot in isolated areas with no cellular service. I lose realtime video monitoring ability fairly quickly, and the wifi lag makes the monitor almost useless. Is there a practical (i.e. cheap) solution that can provide long-distance, low/medium res video monitoring at let's say 300...

My take on UAVS and the future of flying. Feel free to disagree.

    Phantom 3 crashed

I've used a good repair guy, if you're interested. I'm a customer (no commercial connection - other than spending too much of my money). Jeremy was impressively honest, prompt and competent. http://www.usdronerepair.com/ - interesting website, too.

    Traveling with P2

I've traveled internationally with no questions about the battery charge - and in one case they wanted me to fire up the unit, so charge on at least one battery was a must. I don't know if it's essential to store the batteries in the lipo bag, but of course you'll have to show them to security...

    Windy Conditions

On the matter of altitude and distance, I'm no flying expert but I know politics. With the public already very wary, near misses, public anxiety and media ignorance could easily push the FAA (or, heaven forbid, Congress) to make reactive rules and legislation. An actual accident with loss of...

    Windy Conditions

It's funny. A hand catch is SO much easier than landing in wind, but it looks so much more impressive to non-pilots. And if you land it upwind with the camera facing you, it can make for a cool video selfie .

Warning: Flying With Carry-on "Tools" Prohibited!

Recently transited through Delhi airport on my way to and from Kathmandu with a DJI P2+. Delhi is often an adventure, even if you're just connecting flights without a UAV. Security is slow and often haphazard. I had no problem going, but on my way back, had a major kerfuffle: No "tools" of...

    Compass Caution!

Good point. And that would explain the kind of "jinking" around I saw: GPS moves vehicle, discover the error and temporarily compensates.

    Compass Caution!

The compass problem is measurable in Phantom Assistant. It's under the TOOLS tab, third line down is "compass(raw)." The "mod" box reading should be between -750 and +2250. (The question mark above "mod" is full of useful info). I saw that demagnetize video - it's pretty vague, but it...

    Compass Caution!

Thanks for mentioning that. I would point out that replacing the leg with compass involves disassembling the body and switching out compass connectors - not difficult, but intimidating for many folks. Also, my problem compass was a replacement leg.

    Compass Caution!

The GPS knows where "you" are and the compass knows which direction you're (supposedly) pointing. So here's the scenario: What if the GPS knows that the vehicle is drifting and needs to move slightly north to maintain it's position. If the compass is messed up, the GPS may keep trying to move...

    Compass Caution!

I believe that yellow/orange is one of the normal responses - if it was yellow/orange before you started calibration. As I recall, it means normal ATTI mode (no GPS).
