(edited) The answer is no. I took off from a bridge yesterday and had compass error. I took off in ATTI anyway and it flew, but in hindsight it was stupid to do that. I regretted it and landed in ATTI right away again as it was drifting too much with a lot of trees about and not a large landing...

I just don't fly around people and go for nature shots and lighthouses these days. Filming people is just not worth it if you know what I mean.

For me, at home there is not a lot of interesting things to photograph around, and I am busy and rarely have time to fly. Lots of green tree canopy that looks uniform from above, the local city is within five miles of an airport so limits good city shots, and no amazing architectural marvels...

A question: It is stated that you don't want to run your battery all the way down or you will ruin your battery. What does that mean exactly? I ran a battery to empty (well to 6-8%) which has maybe 10 charges on it. It seems fine. Should I worry that it might fall out of the sky at some point...

Longer battery life, better camera with optical zoom, 16 MP digital still resolution, pbetter quality shell with color choice options and the built in tracker would be nice.

It should come with a 16 GB SD card and a USB cable, but the USB cable will not work for an iPhone. You will need to use the charging cable that came with your iPhone.

I would set up an informal business model where I take one or two photos of the property with a standard camera, charge for that, and throw in the aerial photos for free.

Thanks for the heads up. I use a N7 and I have a hood ordered from DJI and they have been sitting on the order. So to cancel or trim it when it does arrive. Does anyone have an alternate hood people recommend for the Nexus 7?

I always hand catch. But if and when I teach my wife to fly on her own and she flies when I am not around, then I would not want her to hand catch and have her auto-land. I would never forgive myself if she messed up with a hand-catch when I was not around while I feel fully confident doing it...
