For aerial photography/filmography - recording nice views to help creating some lame music clips afterwards. Not really commercial, as I personally don't get any money, so you can call it a hobby/doing things for fun.

Though a bit outdated, might still be of use to someone with a similar issue: Restore.Media online service (fixes corrupted file headers and such, so that damaged files become playable). Works like a charm for the problems such as the topicstarter described (2 years ago, in fact, but still :)
