New FAA Regulation Requires UAV Owners to Display Drone ID on Exterior

Colorado already started adding Use Tax to our 2017 Income tax forms trying to collect on Internet purchases. That's a hefty price on a P2P+ purchase. We have a Marijuana Tax. Guess the next thing to come along will be a state registration sticker like found on every boat in about every state...

    Ohhhh I'll Fly Away...

I might be stating the obvious here but when I put on my Amateur Radio Hat VLOS has very little to do with RF Signal Path. Since you were flying well above the typical altitude you may have seen the aircraft visually but the angle of your controller antennas in relationship to the aircraft...

Is the following an invasion of Privacy?

Not sure what country you reside in but in the United States our National Air Space tops out at FL600 or 60,000' MSL for Class A... that was on my part 107 exam.

Is the following an invasion of Privacy?

Can you please cite in the FAA rules part 101 subpart E, part 107 or your local laws where you obtained your information! I'm not convienced there is any predefined minimum flight level (e.g. 200') over a home for sUAS. Facts benifit us all. I thought the rules state you can fly over persons...

    First wreck....

My first crash experience I was following some kids on a 4 Wheeler around the neighborhood at about 65' AGL just off to the side of the street when whack #$@! I had flown the area before so i though i was good on altitude. Turns out one tree in the neighborhood is an evergreen about 70' AGL. I...

Is the following an invasion of Privacy?

Wait, I don't agree Nigel... have you flown in an airplane recently? I dare say 90% or more of passengers flying have smart phones which are cameras, high resolution video cameras. Then most who request window seats do so because they look out and down, especially on approach and departures...

    New phantom

You have to remain situationally aware especially when in Atti mode. I try to practice in Atti mode each time I go out to fly, especially when windy, and only close by. As soon as you feel your not in control switch back to P Mode immediately to stabilize your drone, regroup or return home...

    New phantom

Kissthesky, In my short time flying I'd say my lessons learned is I would also make sure if your flying in P Mode you have sufficient satellites in view and then set your home point each flight. If you do the auto take off it's automatic. I've learned the hard way to pay more attention to...

Did some flying, dodged a couple of low fliers

I work next to St. Anthony Hospital here in Denver and called them to request the process to fly drones in the vicinity. Flight for Life is a large operation and the first in the country for for civilian medical helo operations. They have 3 helo pads at the hospital. When i called and asked they...

Did some flying, dodged a couple of low fliers

You can notify the local hospital where they normally work from and give them your intended flight plan, and your phone number so they can call you if they have a flight

Did some flying, dodged a couple of low fliers

Just_nick I just found part of your comment funny because according to the FAA a sUAS is rightfully an Aircraft by rule. He has to yield to manned aircraft, but he in fact is also an aircraft, thus the purpose of FAA Regulations for drones. From his description sounds like he chose the correct...

Ha ha. You can actually buy this.

Misrepresenting yourself in uniform isn't cool. If they had wanted to be a Coast Guardsmen and not an Auxiliarist then join the service, it is a voluntary organization. I sacrificed a lot in 26+ years to be a guardsman and to have someone misrepresent who we are is a dishonor to those that...

Did some flying, dodged a couple of low fliers

Flockshot, I'm very aware of what 378' looks like. I served on two 378' Coast Guard cutters and quite familiar with their entire length. I also know what helicopters look like on approach to land on the deck calling out altimeter readings. Or spending years looking at tethered aerostats flying...
