I think you need another app to edit the files, you can try out the demo of Adobe Premier Elements http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere-elements.html At the bottom it's a link to install a trial or you can go with Adobe Premier but you need to learn to use it.

What application you are using to edit the file? Can you play it? You can download VLC just to play it.

I would think that you can to remove it, since it's going to try to update and fail and create the text file telling you that you have the latest. I just saved the file on my computer.

What are the specs on the PC? Since the file is a big file and on 4K you need a PC that can work on the files, But I have being able to work on them on a Macbook air with 4GB core i5.
