APilot's answer is the solution. I tried the cable from my Nintendo Switch and it worked fine. Apparently the cable that comes with the Essential PH-1 is incompatible, but other cables work fine.
I sometimes live stream my flights and I like pulling in the satelite map to help with knowing what is underneath me. Using a hotspot isn't really a big deal and perhaps stripping down the old phone will fix the video lockup problems I was experiencing, but I was hoping to use the new phone...
Does anyone know if it is possible to get the Essential PH-1 to work with the DJI Phantom 3 Pro? It has USB-c and OTG support, however connecting to the controller via a standard USB-C to USB-A cable doesn't seem to be doing the trick. I saw a post about making sure the USB connection is set...
It seems that the shaft rotation idea did not work (it just rotated within the cover, not rotating the actual shaft relative to the camera and the set screw self levels too much to be able to secure it to the shaft off axis). I can't see any way to get at the poentiometer to actually change the...
The set screw is correct and it appears to be aligned properly, but perhaps it is the potentiometer after all now that I've seen videos of it taken apart and how they have the potentiometer setup. It seems that the poentiometer itself is reading too far to the left, but moving the shaft off...
My gimbal is constantly pointing slightly to the left. I was digging around a bit and found a post talking about it possibly being the potentiometer on the gimbal, but I'm not sure about this. An odd thing I noticed about my P3P's particular behavior is that when doing a calibration it does...
It seems to be working pretty well after straightening the antenna to be parallel with each other, turning off wifi on my phone and pointing it perpendicular to the drone. I was able to fly out to about 2000 ft away without issue.
I'll give that a shot tonight. I'm going to a park outside 5 miles from any nearby airports so that I can go out a bit further. My testing last night was constrained to below tree tops on a small field (made even smaller by the presence of a bunch of easily distractible elementary school...
Fair enough. I wonder if they develop against AOSP builds. (AOSP being the main android open source project that all of the other Android builds are based off of.) The Moto G5 Plus is very close to pure AOSP, so that might explain the difference. The Galaxy S8 on the other hand bears almost...
Other than the video drop out issue I haven't really noticed any problems so far. Also, if it is just an Android vs iOS thing, I'd expect that the problem would go away if I hooked up to the HDMI port directly. I'm not sure how the choice of phone OS would impact the radio transmission...
They were slightly off angle from parallel pointed slightly out to get clear of the phone mount. They were pointed up and slightly back making a slight V.
Hard to tell. I was mostly in training mode when I was flying it since I'm new to the drone so I didn't get more than 30 meters away. I didn't notice any significant changes in signal quality (in terms of drop outs) but I was more focused on flying than monitoring exact levels of signal for...
I just picked up a Phantom 3 Pro from a friend because it had the bad USB board issue in the remote. Replaced with a new HDMI module and all seems to be mostly well. I took it out today using my Moto G5 Plus. I had great signal strength for control, but the image was super unreliable. I was...
