I bought this one:

I have used it a few times and it works great, no need to counterbalance it.

I am using the same filter (not ND but Polarizing ) it works OK but you are dealing with sun glare ,because the filter is expose to sun (no hood) . I am currently working on hood with integrated high quality filter used by pro photographers ; whole hood/filter will weight about 5 gr. send me Email for more info

Got the ND4, ND8CP, and the ND8...ND4 for med - bright days (bright cloudy), ND8 for full sun days, ND8CP for bright, reflective (water, snow, etc)

Hope that helps...love those Blur Air filters. ..no gimbal balancing needed, for me...

do you have any video samples? it be great! thanks!

Yessir! Working on it....(been a bit windy here AZ....) should have something up this weekend...

Nice results. Done well to keep the sky exposed.

What is the Apollo AiRobotic GP Lens hood? Do you have a link?

I use the same filter. I have to disagree about not needing to counterbalance it. Mine is counterbalanced. It may work OK for the few times you say you've used it BUT... not counterbalancing the gimbal will eventually wear out the motors. Especially the tilt motor.

Did you do the coin trick to counterbalance?

The new Hero 4 ad says "New Protune™ settings for both photos and video unlock manual control of Color, ISO Limit, Exposure and more." Anyone want to venture a guess if ND filters won't be quite so necessary with the Hero 4?

There will always be a case for an ND filter. The faster processor may reduce the need for one when not shooting at 4K but probably not fully. And I don't see anything in the Hero 4 that controls shutter speed so just to get some motion blur, you may want it for that as well.

When I put my ND filter on the gimble stays level. Do I still need to add counter weights to it?

The gimbal motors are designed to rotate a balanced weight. If it's not balanced, the motors are getting overworked.

Ian, your estimation about the Gopro 4 and jello reduction seems just about right. Picked up my Hero 4 this morning and tried it out with no ND filter 1080/30, P2 H3-3D. Conditions were windy and sunny. My completely unscientific observation is that it reduces the appearance of jello by about 50% compared to the 3+. Better than nothing!

50% less Jello is good news. And with an ND, it should be just that much better than the 3 in bright conditions.

I have P2 V1 with H3-3D, Hero 4 black set-up + filter from Polarpro, the one on the picture is Neutral Density, it just plug and play without any modification.

Snare river prototyping Blurfix Aïr filters are the best for h3-3d with only 7.6g and the best glass.
