Will setting limits stop runaways?

I have set limits on my quads to 30m high and 100m distance.
I cant see more than that easily in each direction so I don't see the need for the massive distance :)
My mate had a couple of runaways recently which were more down to pilot error than anything but I did wonder that if he had set some distance limits would the Phantom still have obeyed them if it were to runaway again?

I guess you mean flyaway instead of runaway.

The limits set in the Assistant Software just prevent that you fly further or higher than these limits on manual input.
It does not prevent a real flyaway caused by some reason other then pilot error.

I don't think my mates problem was a real flyaway though,I think he was in ATTI mode without realising at the time so more pilot error.
I assume that the limits you set would work in any flight mode though,GPS or ATTI?
