wi fi on or off?

Hello fellow pilots, I have read that when flying a drone you should have wi fi on mobile device
turned off. I purchased a Phantom 3 std and it did not come with a cable to connect controller to mobile device and only connects through wi fi network. If I do not have wi fi turned on I will not have any control of drone or be able to see the GO app? Is that correct? So, having wi fi enabled on mobile device, will that effect the performance of my phantom?

You must have Wi-Fi enabled since the Phantom 3 Standard uses it. It's not possible to connect the remote controller with a cable.

On the P3A and P3P, some people disable Wi-Fi to free up some resources on their mobile device.

Thanks msinger! I have always kept wi fi on and have had no problems. Just wondering.
