What video editing software for PC?

I currently use Windows Movie Maker Live. Looking for something better/quicker to edit movies. Don't need pro level software as I try not to spend a ton of time editing videos. Something quick, easy to use, and cheap.

The "quicker" bit isn't necessarily to do with software but is more related to the system memory, system processer(s) and graphics card and its memory. The software is first off is really down to your budget. You will get as many opinions here as to the "better" software as there are shades of green!

In Movie Maker Live you can't use an audio track only from a video. In order to add sound to my videos I had to crop the video to only the clip of the audio I want then save that as audio only. Then re open my video project (takes time to re import the video), import my new audio file. Rinse and repeat. This was extremely time consuming. In the old Movie Maker 1 2 and 2.0 you could crop a clip copy it and move to the audio layer of the section of video you wanted.

I haven't tried to put it on my W8 laptop yet, it ticks the boxes for cheap and easy.
As above the rendering part takes time with all of them and needs fast CPU and ample RAM to go quicker

I've got Windows Movie Maker already (looks like Movie Maker 2012 is same as Movie Maker Live). Lost a lot of functionality in the new versions, but the old versions could only open up wmv videos.

I started and learned the basics with gopro studios. Once I got down simple cuts and transitions, I started using pinnacle studio 17 and have been enjoying it.

Corel Vid Studio Pro 7 works fine for me with GoPro files and Win8.1
