What the hell am I doing wrong?

I am trying to orbit a fixed point. If I aim the Phantom 2 at say a house, fly sideways then yaw to keep the house in the centre of the screen, the orbit seems to suddenly increase in diameter and go haywire.

Any suggestions welcome.

You're just going to need to keep practicing your piloting skills; wind might be a factor too.
Even a light breeze of 5mph or less will offshoot your circle

Probably the sideways motion is too fast if it is trying to increase the circle diameter.

yup,. just keep on practicing.
just keep on yawing to keep the craft pointed at the center of the house, if the diameter seems to be getting bigger, maybe yaw a bit more, or even attempt to close the radius by pushing the right stick forward ever so slightly.

You could make the house the home point, either by taking off near it or changing the home point while hovering over it, then back your Phantom away, face it to the house, flip into Home lock and just go left or right and it should circle the house.
