What if my P4 is returning home, and it meets an obstacle that it cannot find a way to pass. Will it just stay until it autolands when it gets to 10% battery? I have been thinking about this for a bit now...

Not that easy to test. I have wondered about that also. I don't know how far the P4 will travel, vertically or horizontally, to avoid an object.
My guess is that it would just hover in place, as you suggested, until critical battery.
