Using Tethered Tablet and Android Phone

I am using a Samsung Tablet E 9.7 with my P3A. It is not connected to a cell provider. I really like the display size for my uses. However, with the remote connectivity I don't get map updates in the Go app.

Has anyone been able to use their smartphone with a tablet to allow the tablet to get data via the smartphone?

Yes, you can tether your smart phone to your tablet to download the maps. Or, cache them while connected to the Internet before you head out to fly.

I do it all of the time. You need to have the right data plan that allows this or us an app such as FoxFi.

I have Verizon. I have my MiFi in my pocket, which gives me an internet connection wherever I am.
I guess I could just as easily tether to my phone, too.

I tether my Galaxy Pro 8.4 to my S6 Edge phone at every new location to download the maps, then disable wifi again before take-off. Takes less than a minute. Only prob' is if you are in an area w/out mobile service, which has happened to me a time or two, otherwise it is a great solution.
