So, sometime last year I was working for a company that had a phantom and was using it to track the progression of a construction project through aerial photos. This construction project also happened to be on the ocean. During one of the flights, the operator crashed it into the ocean along with the GoPro it was carrying. A search was attempted but ultimately failed. Oddly enough, months later, one of our other employees happened to be on a dredging barge when it pulled up, of all things, our lost phantom. Sadly the Gopro was gone, so no footage was recovered. But behold the photos of a Phantom that spent a few months under the sea

geeez i just bought a phantom 3 and all those crashing and flyaways i getting scared to know i spent $1300 darn

I feel the same way right now as far as the fear. I recently purchased the P3 and can't seem to enjoy it as much at all yet since I'm so panicky while flying. Heh

@OP You should try starting it up and see if it still works : )

JK, Id assume the motors are all seized up. Curious to know if anything at all is salvageable?

Yeah, lol. I'm fairly certain anything metal is completely fused together. If the battery door wasn't completely crusted shut I probably would have pulled it out to look at it for curiosity's sake. I bet sitting in salt water for that long has done some interesting things to it. I forgot to mention that we lost one in the ocean before this one, but it was immediately recovered, yet still completely destroyed by the salt.

Thanks for sharing. Always love seeing hardware carnage where nobody gets hurt.
