Uncontrolled flight

Fourteen days after I purchased my P4Pro it flew up when I started it, hovered at 3m, and then went straight up and to the left into a tree. After hitting the tree, it fell into a lake. I had been flying it over land pretty much to avoid this from happening. DJI tells me it was past the 15 day return period when I finally contacted them after coming home from vacation where I was.

Anyone else have a control problem?

The most likely explanation for what you described is an unexpected RTH situation.
The recorded flight data will probably show exactly what happened.
