Ok so I was reading in a CAA exemption about flying FPV aircraft which by definition the phantom 3 and 4 are. It has a live video feed that is either displayed through goggles or on a small monitor.
According to the exemption it overrides 166(3) meaning FPV aircraft can be flown to a maximum altitude of 1000' (304m)
However, there are several requirements that must be met in order to legally fly at this altitude.
First you have to have a competent observer.
You need to have planned your flight and briefed your observer on the flight. They have to be by your side during the whole flight. The purpose of your observer is to monitor the airspace visually and aurally for any potential collisions.
You are still restricted to flying no further than 500m distance and still restricted to the 150m distance from congested areas. Also, the flight cannot be taken if its for aerial work (paid work)
The only crap part is the exemption expires on 30th April 2016. I guess they will either scrap it or revise it after this date.
