Hi all.

I recently traveled from Miami to Indianapolis and Chicago on a video shoot and I brought my Phantom 2 Vision Plus along on the plane. I checked it because it was too much to bring on the plane as a carry-on.

I was curious what your thoughts are regarding travel and some good tips to help others preparing to do so. I had great success and learned some important things about the battery and the pressure of the case. I've outlined my findings here: http://www.joshbenson.com/phantom-2-vis ... avel-case/.

I would like to hear your experiences and if you've traveled outside the continental US, please let us know any policies for traveling with the Phantom. Thanks!

Thanks for the nice review of the case and traveling with the P2V+ in general.
I too have that case and am very pleased with it.

I am planning on taking it with me on vacation to Jamaica in February. I am also considering taking it to Guatemala later this year (if I go there).
Jamaica would be carry-on but Guatemala would be checked since I would be flying Spirit Air and it is too big for carry-on with them.

I am interested in hearing about others that have flown internationally with this equipment.

Thanks for starting this thread...I live in Hawaii and am traveling to El Salvador this summer for a surf trip (flying Delta RT). I have the backpack made by GPC (http://www.goprocases.com/phantom2backp ... ition.aspx) and was planning on carrying it on because I am leery about checking it all the way through with multiple connections and it not being a hard case. I would very much like to hear anyone's experiences with traveling internationally with the P2V+ as a carry-on. I have tried to find as much info as possible through the airlines, TSA, etc. but first-hand is always preferred.

Just arrived in Boston. No problem at all at O'hare TSA. Not even a question. Repacked it in original box and carried it in a canvass bag that fit it perfectly.

I have went from South Dakota to Atlanta and onto Turks & Caicos , back trough Miami and Minneapolis all on Delta
Used the tough case and had no Issues with TSA or Flight crews
I placed in overhead all flights (had to turn sideways on 2 as were commuter flights)

I'm scheduled to fly from United States to Europe in a couple of weeks with my Phantom. I'm doing several tests to make sure I don't have any problems.

I have a std backpack made by Nike that fits my P2V+ and all my Phantom gear and camera gear and meets the American Airlines criteria of 36" total linear dimension of H+W+T= 36" and I plan to carry it aboard as a "personal item" like you would a briefcase or purse so I can have all my clothing etc in a std roll aboard suitcase.

I just got back from traveling with it for 4 days by car and it seems to work well. I'm not comfortable checking either my phantom or my clothing......too many lost luggage experiences.

I'm heading out to Guatemala City on Sunday for a medical mission , June 8th - and would love to bring the Phantom Vision plus along -

What are the steps to ensure that I wont have any issues at customs coming back into the US? Anyone have any experience with this?

I'm going to bring my camera equipment on board with me - canon 6D within lens bag - and phantom with this carry on

I just ordered this case in strong part due to your review. Thank you for all of the info!

Any re-calibration or special needs for the craft after going through the airport xray scanners? Does this negatively affect it in any way?

I haven't tried the large hard case that Monoprice.com offers, but it sounds like it might fit the purpose at a reasonable price.

Weatherproof Polypropylene Case with Customizable Foam - L18.86" x W16.34" x D8.54"
http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=1 ... 1&format=2

It's shockproof, waterproof, and has a pressure relief valve.

I do have the small case, and that one is well built and IMHO represents a good value.

How did you end up traveling overseas with your drone? I also live in Hawaii and I'll be traveling to Europe in a couple weeks. Any advice on traveling with the drone?

Hi guys,

I travel a lot between Europe and South East Asia and my Phantom goes always with me as carry-on. Never had a problem.
Sometimes I have to open my case and show my Phantom but usually I don't have to open.
I use a very light back pack case, all the equipment including 4 batteries and an extra external battery for the amp is just 5.5 kg.

Geert./.

Can we see the backpack or a link ?
Is there a topic devoted to backpacks ?
