I was looking at the Phantom 2 2.4GHz transmitter. I had an idea about boosting the transmitter range by changing out the antenna. Looks like I can replace the existing cable that comes off the RF board to the antenna with a new cable and have a female rp-sma connector on the end. Then mount it where the existing antenna would be. Then I can use any high gain 2.4ghz antenna with a male rp-sma by screwing it on. As true with any antenna the higher the gain the longer it gets. But Also the higher the gain the more it multiplies the RF output. I figure a 9-15dbi antenna would dramatically boost the output range of the current stock transmitter.

The Dji D7 2.4ghz transmitter is rated at 21dbm about 125 miliwatts. With a 9dbi antenna your could boost that to nearly .605 miliwatts. ERP.

I was just curious if anyone has done this and tested it with results?
