transmitter linking

I received a replacement transmitter for phantom 3 pro. It won't link with the aircraft. ?

Do you know which versions of firmware you have on each? Older versions on one may not be compatible with newer ones on the other. And when you say they won't link, what's happening, where in the linking procedures does the process breakdown?
