The flooding of the buyau behind my house

Yikes - has that water crested yet? Nice spot to live by the looks of it - does that river flood every spring? Nice job getting the video.

Yes where the water is is about as high as it can get unless the Levi below us fills up with water

So these levee's you have down there - they act like or maybe are considered a dyke then? Is the one you mentioned just like a dirt mound with sand bags or something, does it protect you from the Mississippi River flooding?

Sorry - no more questions, I am from Canada and not very familiar with these Levee's down there but have heard them mentioned many times on the news etc.

Hope you don't experience anything worse than what you have now! Best of luck!

Basically we live on what is called a buyau they are not flowing rivers to say small currents not much usually just stagnant water ways.

We're not used to the water getting up like this yes the levees are just like that real nice none has broken. Some areas water went over the levees as you can see in the video. The missippi is about an hour east of us

Thanks for the info - just checked out Wikipedia on the Levee's interesting stuff. Sure hope you guys have seen the end of this and the Levee does its job for ya.

Best of luck Roger to you and family, hope everything gets back to normal sooner rather than later, stay safe.

"Born on the Bayou" great CCR song (had to find something good out of this)!
