The media diversion has been very nice during the Holiday. I am pushing for geofencing, registration and THR"s for all hoverboards. There needs to be a study done I am sure. Lots to do in 2016....

There is a THR on the University of Alabama campus as of this week, if that helps. ;)

Due to safety issues related to the charging and operation of hoverboards, and out of an abundance of caution, The University of Alabama will implement several temporary restrictions on the use of hoverboards on campus.

The following restrictions are effective immediately:
  • Hoverboards will not be allowed in University housing and residential facilities, including Greek houses.
  • Hoverboards cannot be recharged in any UA-owned or UA-leased facility or building.
  • Individuals who choose to ride hoverboards on campus must follow all traffic and pedestrian laws.

Restrictions will remain in place until safety concerns are resolved.

Individuals who are returning to campus via air travel are encouraged to review their airline’s policy regarding hoverboards, because most/all major airlines do not allow the devices on their planes. Taking a few minutes to check with your airline prior to travel may save time and inconvenience while en route to Tuscaloosa.

Thank you for your understanding as we work to keep our campus as safe as possible. If you would like additional product safety information on hoverboards, view a statement from the Chairman of the US Consumer Product Safety Commission regarding hover boards at http://www.cpsc.gov/en/About-CPSC/Chairman/Kaye-Biography/Chairman-Kayes-Statements/Statements/Statement-from-the-US-CPSC-Chairman-Elliot-F-Kaye-on-the-safety-of-hoverboards/.
