This is my first long range FPV test on stock Vision+ aircraft. My setup are as below:

- Stock Vision+ aircraft
- Homebrew LHCP helical antenna
- Rocket M2 AP/Repeater (configured 23dBm 200mW TX power)
- 5.8G Transmitter with 11dBi/14dBi patch panel
11dBi 45-degree beam width http://www.amazon.com/JMT-High-gain-Ant ... B00FGLBA1G
14dBi 35-degree beam width http://www.amazon.com/Docooler-Antenna- ... B00JIKTGJO
- Rooted Nexus 7 (2012 model) running Android 4.4 Vision app 1.0.39 with Preview Quality 640x480 15fps

I have some very interesting findings on the new Vision+:
- Vision+ aircraft Wifi module TX power is substantially lower (I estimate only 10-20mW) than original Vision camera (100-125mW), but the stock Vision+ FPV range is double. This is likely due to DJI using a new communication protocol on Vision+, and I guess it's similar to Lightbridge.
- Android Vision app 1.0.39 is still showing N/A beyond 2KM, comparing to previous version showing N/A beyond 1KM.
- 3-axis gimbal is very stable, and no post video processing of stabilization required.
- I love flying "FPV Mode" instead of conventional video mode, which let me have some sort of Top Gun (or Superman) feel.

Strange, my app no longer has any distance limitation. This is 4km and I've seen further.

Unsure whether this is due to Parameter Unit between Imperial and Metric in the app. I may try Imperial unit next time. I know such Distance showing N/A is hard coded in the app as I reviewed the coding of previous versions.

I noticed while watching your vid as soon as the app goes to N/A the satellites are no longer lit up blue
Great range

That's what I'm worrying very much when the satellite icon greyed out, as my P2V went down (auto-landing into a pond) likely due to home-point/satellite reset somehow during RTH.

May I ask what method you used to record the video along with the telemetry data? Did you have another camera setup on a tripod or mount to record the screen of your FPV? Thanks

My rooted Nexus 7 is running Android 4.4, and I use an app called "Rec. (Screen Recorder)" to record the screen https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... pectrl.rec

Could you possibly provide more specifics on the equipment you used? i.e. 'home brew antenna'... where you bought them... anything complicated in setup/config? Thanks.. impressive video...

"Homebrew" means I made the antenna myself. For DIY helical antenna, you may refer to http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1377791

There are a few makers like FPVLR (http://fpvlr.com/shop/index.php?route=p ... path=70_72) and Horizon FPV (http://horizonfpvantennas.mybigcommerce ... -2-vision/) offering FPV antennas for P2V/V+. They both are active in this forum.

PVFlyer.....Awesome video. spectacular range. I just got my P2V+ and tomorrow I'm gonna give it a shakedown. I had a P2V and the limitations with no gimbal made me jump the gun and get the P2 H3. The gimbals good and the H3 is nice, but without ground control of the camera (ie toggle camera/video on/off and other controls) and the wifi repeater, not to mention the flight time loss from all the aftermarket devices, I was very disappointed! Oh, I forgot the price for all that stuff too!

Well, I was pleased to see DJI Improved the Vision with the gimbal and I cant wait to give it a try!

Hey all. I just received my new Vision+ but am getting some serious video connection and freezing issues using the V1.0.39 Android app. I'm running it on the Nexus 7 tablet (newest version). Can you provide me some advice on getting the video working reliably? I've tried DJI support but nothing useful back yet. Thanks for any assistance.

Update - I just noticed that DJI released the 1.0.40 Android app on the Play Store. I assume (hope) this will fix the video issues.

You may try to lower the Preview Quality other than 640x480 30fps on 1.0.39, while 1.0.40 should fix this issue.

I also owned a P2V, but it went down (auto-landing into a pond) somehow. I considered to go for P2 + H3-3D + Lightbridge, and ended up go for Vision+. I prefer using iOS/Android app to control the camera even it's far away. I'm still using the old P2V 5.8G transmitter with pigtail and LiPo battery mod, and keep the new Vision+ transmitter in the box.
