Specs For Editing?

Hi I am looking at buying a mac for video editing. I am enticed by the Mac mini because of the cheaper price and small footprint on my desk, however I am not sure if the specs are good enough. It has an intel i5 8gb of ram and apples HDD for storage with a SSD for most used files and programs for $850. A Mac desktop with those specs including screen and keyboard etc is $1199.99.

Are these specs good enough to edit video from a P3A? Do you guys think of the Mac mini will be enough?

I use a 27 inch Mac for editing and it works just fine, I haven't used the mini.
Is the RAM upgradable in the mini as personally I don't think 8Gb would be enough.
