I have flown about 30 hours without any shell cracks - so far.

To help to prevent the dreaded cracking would you advise slackening the motor screws off, say an eighth of a turn?

Thanks.

Most Phantoms never develop any cracking.
The best explanation for those that do is that it's a result of bad moulding or bad plastic.
If your Phantom is like most, you won't need to do anything.

I did this when I first got the P3A and it certainly will not do any harm. I found many of them to be ridiculously and unnecessarily tight. I added a tiny amount of Loctite 425 to the motor bolts (although they did have a threadlock compound on them already) just to make sure they stayed put. The only thing you'll never stop is UV deterioration of the plastic, which makes it go brittle over time.
