SFOC Exemtion question

26. The pilot operating under this exemption shall only operate a UAV at least five (5) nautical miles from a built up area.

What do you think a built up area is? Big city, small town? I have a customer that wants pictures of 3 plots of land up at a ski hill. I would think that this would be considered a built up area as well. It just seems a bit grey and looking for opinions.

Hey Pete, have you tried asking TC directly to be sure? Saw a hexa flying over Edmonton's downtown arena and thats a lot of X's on their rules (pilot probably had an SFOC too)

The ski hill definitely isn't as populated as down town edmonton. I grew up there as well!

Built up area according to Transport Canada is anything busier than a barn in a field. It's basically their way of saying town/city.
