Setup not working

I set the vertical shot to 3, and it continues to shoot 4, so I get 34 shots instead of 26.
Checked after the shoot, and it still shows 3 but I got 34 shots.

Also did 3 panos on one battery, and got 104 photos instead of 3 x 34 =102
How do I handle that?
