I apologize for cross posting, but wanted to see if anyone's got an idea about this:

I was wondering about maybe replace the GPS Antenna with one that has a higher gain.

I think this one below can be used to replace the P2V+ GPS antenna. However, am looking for something with more gain.

Like these, but not sure if these are too thick..This would also get the GLONASS as well, but not sure if GLONASS works with P2V+

These are Glonass Antennas

This one is slighly thicker (by 2mm), but am thinking might work:

Anyone have experience with this?

I think the GPS in the P2V+ is a ublox 6. I don't think it does Glonass or Galileo.
I was wondering if anyone has tried replacing the ublox 6 with a ublox 8 module that does GNSS, Glonass, Galileo etc... I'm not sure if the P2V+ firmware could work with it though. The ublox 8 is quite a bit more sensitive then the ublox 6 also and they are pin compatible. With all the talk of flyaways possibly being due to GPS error or loss of GPS signal having 20 sats instead of 6 sounds pretty interesting.

I am thinking even if the firmware can not handle GNSS, Glonass, Galileo, the added sensitivity would be handy.

My old Vision routinely gets about 12 satellite Vision+ gets about 6 to 7. At same location.

I get during the daytime 10 sats and 12/13 during dark times on my V+.
Anyway it could be intesting if they are pin compatible.
I didn't look into any upgrade for the GPS yet.
Have to deal other things first.

I love my PV2+ and that's with it spending over 50% of its time in the air in ATTI due to low sat lock.

I'm lucky that I'm confident flying it without GPS lock, if I wasn't I'd be a lot more pissed.

However when I start to spend more time using it for photography work, the intermittent GPS lock will start to annoy me as I will not be able to concentrate as hard on getting the photos that I want especially if its unlocked in a breeze and I'm spending a lot of time correcting its position when I should be concentrating on the iPhone.

Therefore, I am hoping for a GPS module fix OR a new Vision with better GPS.

Here's an older thread I found on replacing the GPS Antenna

Seems like the GPS Antenna cracks easily. IF you get the whole module it's like $160. Much cheaper solution is to replace the antenna for $4.75.
