I'm wondering how many folks remove the battery and put it in a fireproof area or container when not in use? Seems awful easy to just leave it in the Phantom. Does the "smart" battery reduce or minimize the chance of a catastrophe?

I remove my battery, and, per advice I got from someone a while back, only store it about 50% full. Never store it for any length of time all the way charged or all the way depleated.
I don't store them in fireproof containers, though. There really isn't much chance of explosion if they're not either under load or 100% charged (or damaged/swelled).
