I wouldn't use my own CC. I used a pre-paid one. So I'm not sure the Gov. is smart enough to return it. But like you said... not a big loss.

Not yet, I too used a prepaid card. The system came on line way too fast without any forthcoming information as to vendor, security and all the other "little details" of a solid and reliable product. If someone hacks and nabs the other $20 on the pp visa, I am not as concerned as wiping out a bank card.

As to the refund, I suspect they won't be given till after the 30 day window. Probably easier and cheaper to bulk refund and the vendor makes money on that $5 in interest to cover the cost of a no fee transaction plus profit and kickbacks.

No. I don't expect to get it back for 5 years and then, I'll have a convenience charge of $6 I will owe the gov't.
