Recreational Drone Use covered by your homeowners policy?

My guess is that any insurance company will push back big time and they will eventually update their terms to specifically state no coverage for drone use.

They will certainly not allow any coverage for business use.

This is a well written legal article addressing the issues squarely on. Insurance companies will surely push back on whether the drone was operated in an intentionally dangerous way. One of the clearest such indications would be if the drone were flown over property or persons who have not consented.

My homeowners insurance would not cover me unless it was used solely as a "toy". Talked to them today. - Canada
