This is the old Raco Airfield. Planes haven't landed here since the 1970s. It is currently owned by the U.S. Forest Service, Hiawatha National Forest. It was defense for the Sault Ste Marie, MI locks, which are a major shipping route for the Great Lakes (and a lot of the central U.S.). I have been here in the past and was really excited to fly here. For more information visit Abandoned & Little-Known Airfields: Northern Michigan
