Quick access to DCIM folder.

Only got a phantom yesterday, had no idea it had an ftp server. Confirmed working with filezilla

Why risk damaging the card or gimbal port and not just use wifi?

If you think there is no risk of damage then you carry right on.

On the other hand the Phantom gets pretty hot just sitting while transmitting several GB over relatively slow wifi.
The USB ports have been known to break away and agree to a point the mini SD slot needs to be used with care.
Apart from anything else the cards are easily dropped and could easily be lost if not in an ideal spot.

I always pull the card from all my cameras though and haven't had an issue.

There is absolutely no risk to the gimbal port or the SD card.
You would have to treat it like King Kong to do any damage.
I do it several times a day, several days a week and have been doing in with a P3 since they were released without coming close to causing any damage.
But using wifi or the cable is very much slower so there's no point transferring files like that.
