Here's the scenario - I launch from the top of a cliff and say there is a 200 ft drop off. Then I fly my drone down the cliff 100 ft. With RTH height set to 100 ft, will it know to go up 200 ft when I press the RTH button before returning home to land?

From take off your height is zero so if you fly over cliff and go lower than the take off point it will show negative height, so in theory it should go to +100 ft from takeoff height, I would recommend adding some battery buffer into the warnings and such in case it doesn't compensate for the extra lift needed to reach RTH height

In theory...but has anyone tried it? So I guess whatever the take off ground elevation and location is, that is the reference point where it will land. Just wanted to be sure because I will be in this scenario in a few weeks and I don't want to crash it in to a cliff.

Yes I have or would not have posted. Wasn't but 45' below Hp but it did go straight up and come home at my set RTH height above HP location .
