Picking Up 4K, Update Firmware?

Hi, first time poster. Been reading all the problems with latest firmware regarding signal lost at 100', should I update the firmware on the drone and the RC before first flight? Or try first flight first? Not even sure if the drone will allow me to fly without updating the firmware first. TIA.

You can fly without updating the firmware.

Thanks. Will the latest DJI Go App still connects without updating the firmware? Any significant function missing without updating firmware?

Yes, DJI GO should run just fine with your current firmware.

I'm not sure which version you're using now. You can find a list of the major changes in the release notes here.
