Phone Rerquirements

I'm buying a Phantom 3 Standard drone today and wanted to know if I dedicate a cell phone strictly for use with the Phantom controller do I simply need a phone with WIFI and no no cell service? And does the phone need a SIM card?

If you are looking at a dedicated phone, why not get a tablet instead. All you really need is Wi-Fi anyway. A little bigger screen you will be better off with for near the same cost as a dedicated phone.
