Phantom2 Range expectations.

I'm interested in understanding the range capability of the P2. Yesterday I went 1200 Metres horizontally is this pushing the limits? Only mods I know of on my Phantom is the cloverleaf aerials. Well impressed with the range and picture quality when at extended ranges.

Had spotters placed along the route and FPV video on the handset.

Ah, stock ADVERTISED range may be 1000m, 3000ft, but neither of ours, or two close friends, have kept FPV past 1500-1600ft. for us to intentionally go past 333m, 1000ft, on purpose is inconceivable.

Since there's no camera on the P2, we'd be talking about the control signal, right? FPV range would be whatever magic you can put together - there's no stock or expected FPV range on a P2.

Depends what resolution and frame rate?
I get 800m on stock with 640x480@15fps.

The stock range of a P2/controller is a 1000m (3280.84') in a completely open area and than likely an altitude of a few hundred feet. As for a video signal at that distance it all depends on the type of antennas on both the craft, receiver and video transmitter being used.
