Phantom 4 signal loss at 1,000ft distance 1-300' height

I believed the range of the Phantom 4 to be 3.1 miles. Any suggestions to help my loss of connectivity in rural areas with a 1k foot distance in all directions?

Update: manually selecting the radio channel from the DJI app and lowering the transmission quality helped a great deal!

Make sure your antennas are vertical straight up from your RC. Even if you are in the country like me, if I fly between two cell towers that are 5 miles apart I lose signal.
