Greetings,

I found this site while looking for information about a Phantom 4 Pro I have.

Here's a link to some photos of the drone for reference.

The batteries are charged and look good. Not swollen or damaged.
Everything powers on, camera looks good, gimble tracks.

I'm a little lost learning if this unit is supported, upgradeable, or even safe to fly.
Being old and much larger than the new drones I see, is this Phantom still worth using?

any suggestions or help is appreciated.

thanks

Greetings from Birmingham Alabama USA, welcome to the forum! We look forward to hearing from you!

I have the Phantom 4 Pro v2 in my fleet. I still use it for mapping.

Looks new
If unsure how things work download online manual, next to nothing in quick start manual of how drone works and help keep it right way up. If unsure ask, 👍

Hi,

I have the manuals. I don't see any support or upgrades available for this unit. I'm guessing it's end of life.
While it looks new, I think it may be better to sell and get something better and supported :-/

Depends on your needs then, just cause some no longer supported dont mean it wont fly for another 10 years,,I bet lot of new drones wont be supported soon either,,there are many p4ps in operation still ,If I had $$$$ I would own another phantom in a heartbeat but that's just my opinion,

Just add if looking to sell it here in classifieds you need to have at least 10 posts and been here for 30 days as stated in community guidelines

thanks for that info.

I see comments about a V1 and V2 and how the firmware V1s have issues.

Do you know if there's a way to determine which version I have?

Don't mess with the firmware, last thing to try, if you can't figure out a specific problem!!.

Your posts don't have any details yet.
How did you get it?
Do you have the remote and can fly it?

BTW.. Welcome to the forum!

One of DJI’s better units. Skip the update button for now until you check through the system and see how it works for what you intend to do with it. All the settings are visible in the Go4 app and should be checked before you fly. Check to see what stick mode it’s on so you’re familiar with what each stick will control and what each stick will do.

Hi Rod,

I'm doing IT consulting for a local company and they have this drone in storage. It's complete with the remote and it does fly.
They've asked me to check it out. It looks about 7 years old.

Thanks

Link to this thread for some info on v1 or v2
I avoid firmware so I wont advise on that side of things
DJI SERIAL DECODER might say to but cant remember if it gives dates only or model aswell

thanks for the links, I missed them when searching.

From the descriptions the one I have looks to be the V1 release.
I see some comments about fly-aways which is concerning. Any idea how common that happens?

thanks again

Fly-Aways?

I would say 95%, are actually the operator not knowing important information.

Check this link out.

The Mavic site has a lot more activity. Still the same concept, just more complicated.

Looking at the history of this thread, members that have replied so far know this stuff.

I'm not in the list. :)👌

From what I recall, Silver "DJI" sticker on top = V1, Gold Sticker = V2. V2 also has internal RID capability, V1 requires a module. I bought the Ruko RID on Amazon.. works great.

Do a few test flights then upload the data to Air Data.
Battery data can be viewed to help determine the health of the batts.

Thanks for the AirData suggestion. Uploaded a few short flights this afternoon. Batteries seems good but I need to do a longer flight.
