Hi can anybody recommend the best settings for general video and photos on phantom 4 pro plus and also playback issues with iPad 2

You have left it pretty wide open - "best for general use" is rather subjective.
If you're only playing back on an ipad, i would shoot in 1080p. That gives you plenty of options with frame rate, including 120fps slow mo.
If you have no clue about cameras, leave it on auto and set the colour profile to "none". Set white balance for the conditions you are in (sunny/cloudy) but auto does an ok job too.
If you are camera savvy, it isnt too hard to figure out settings that you like.
