I have a question --
I started a map yesterday, same location, same flight plan, same everything, as I have done every week for the past year
First problem us that it seems to take forever to load the plan into the drone, and then after coming home for a battery change, the drone would not take off
I started the flight from the beginning, and the drone flew in the wrong direction
Never had this with M2P
I always calibrate compass before each flight ( my Aussie ReOC requires me to do this)

Any help will be gratefully appreciated

Sounds like a combination of compass interference and too many apps running on your device. Make sure your compass is pointing in the same direction as drone after calibration, if not, move away and repeat calibration. Slow loading on your device usually indicates cpu overload so shut down unnecessary apps and repeat. Rebooting device could also help.

That's completely unnecessary, there's no physical reason the compass should need recalibration before a flight.
It doesn't do anything to make your flying any safer.
Whoever set that rule has no idea about what compass calibrating actually does.

It's hard to tell what the issue might have from the minimal information.
But it's fairly certain that it had nothing to do with the compass.
