I bought my hard she'll case from Gear Best for $31.63 plus shipping. Took a little over 3 weeks to receive it but my P3S, controller, props, etc all fit snugly in the case.
I've never flown with my P3, but I've read on this forum where others have using the DJI case which is the same size. Search the forum and I'm sure you'll find the info you need. I learn something new every time I browse the various posts.
You'll need to check with your airline of choice since not all carry-on bag dimensions are the same. If you're checking your Phantom, a hard case would offer the most protection.
I ordered one of the knock off DJI hard cases from banggood for $35. Should be here any day now. As stated, whether you can carry on your case is 100% dependent on the airline's permissible dimensions, all of which are posted online. I can measure my case when it gets here and post back.
