Phantom 2 Vision's 5.8Ghz controller vs the Phantom 2's 2.4

Anyone know if there is more or less range with the 5.8Ghz controller? I know it probably has less interference since home WiFi is 2.4 but was wondering if there was a range difference between the 2 bands. Also, I want to eventually upgrade to a GoPro, gimbal and FPV. Since the FPV is 5.8, I'm guessing I will have to swap out the Phantom 2 Vision with a plain Phantom 2. Sound about right?

In my experience it's six of one or a half dozen of another. Under perfect test conditions and apples to apples, you might see more range with 2.4ghz, but in my experience, the difference is negligible.
The only real benefit to the P2's 2.4ghz controller is that you can easily upgrade to something like a Futaba or Spektrum.
