Wow review says they launched from a manhole cover guessing this was metal
and the compass didn't go crazy imagine losing it from a fly away on a review

The testers aren't expert flyers. They likely had the antenna pointed wrong when flying straight overhead which caused it to disconnect. For maximum range you should point the side of the TX antenna towards the P2V(+). I too have had mine to 1300' altitude and I think it can go much higher. Why not 2000'+? Safely of course. I will get there eventually as I ring it out further and further and further.
