3:0.6 has been released (and there were angels singing!)

The Release Notes and Windows Phantom Assistant SW v3.2 are up as of this writing and FW 3.0.6 is available via the WIndows v3.2 Assistant software. I assume the Mac Assistant v3.2 is being uploaded soon. Hit refresh on the DJI download page?

July 29, 2014 PHANTOM 2 Main Controller Firmware V3.06 released

What’s new?

Main Controller Firmware
1. When the battery level reaches a Critical Battery Level Warning, the aircraft will automatically land. The motors
will power off after landing.
2. When the battery level reaches a Low Battery Level Warning, Auto Go-home will be activated.*
3. Descending speed will be automatically adjusted based on current altitude when the battery level reaches a
Critical Battery Level Warning.
4. Minimum adjustable height limit set to 20m.
5. Magnetic declination value stored to improve flight course accuracy.
6. Various bug fixes.

Phantom 2 PC Assistant
1. Added Japanese as a supported language.

Notes*:
1. To upgrade main controller firmware to v3.06 or above is required.
2. Be aware that aircraft will now automatically return to the Home point on Low Battery Level Warning. If you wish
to disable the auto go-home feature, launch DJI Phantom Assistant, enter “Battery Settings” section and de-select
the “Go-Home” option.

Overview:
a) Main controller firmware updated to v3.06.
b) Central board firmware updated to v1.0.1.32
c) DJI Vision App updated to iOS v1.0.42 and Android v1.0.52.
d) Phantom 2 PC Assistant updated to v3.2.

Main controller Major New Features:
a) Added two levels of battery warnings: Low Battery Level Warning and Critical Battery Level Warning. Setup these warnings using either the DJI Phantom Assistant or DJI Vision App.

For Phantom 2 Vision or Vision+ users:
When flying the DJI Phantom 2 Vision or Vision+, the system will automatically track your current flight height and distance. It will also calculate the amount of battery power required to return home safely. Watch the battery indicator bar at the top of the screen. When the battery power falls below the Low Battery Level Warning threshold (yellow area), a notice will popup. It is recommended that you choose “Go Home” to return the aircraft to the home point safely. If you choose “Cancel”, the aircraft will continue flying until the Critical Battery Level Warning is triggered. If no choice is made, the aircraft will return home automatically after ten seconds. The motors will power off automatically once the Phantom lands.

If the Low Battery Level Warning (yellow area) is canceled, the Phantom will continue normal flight. If the battery power falls below the Critical Battery Level Warning threshold (red area), the Phantom will automatically start to descend. While descending, you may push up on the throttle to slow the descent and navigate the aircraft to a more suitable landing area. The motors will power off automatically once the Phantom lands.

For Phantom 2 users, this function is enabled by default, so Auto Go-home will be activated if the battery level reaches a Low Battery Level Warning. When returning, you may get control back using the remote controller and continue normal flight. If the battery power falls below the Critical Battery Level Warning threshold (red area), the Phantom will automatically start to descend. While descending, you may push up on the throttle to slow the descent and navigate the aircraft to a more suitable landing area. The motors will power off automatically once the Phantom lands.

b) When the battery level reaches a Critical Battery Level Warning, the aircraft will automatically land. The motors will power off after landing.
c) Descending speed will be automatically adjusted based on current altitude when the battery level reaches a Critical Battery Level Warning.
d) Minimum adjustable height limit set to 20m.
e) Magnetic declination value stored to improve flight course accuracy.
f) New fix of video signal problem that affect some Phantom 2 Vision users.
g) Various bug fixes.

DJI Vision App Major New Features:
a) The current battery level can now be viewed real-time through the DJI Vision App, via a battery level indicator bar near the top of the screen.
b) “Hotline” feature for easy access to post-sales supports.
c) “Compass Calibration” feature added.
d) “Low Battery Auto Go Home” feature added.

Re: Phantom Firmware v3.0.6 Released!

Well that sounds very interesting. I shall wait a few weeks for those braver than I to report back on any issues before I update.

Re: Phantom Firmware v3.0.6 Released!

All updated here. Bit too windy to test it out so I'll report back as soon as I can.

Re: Phantom Firmware v3.0.6 Released!

Sound interesting but if I understand correctly I don't like the RTH on low battery warning so will probably disable that.

Does 4 mean that we can now adjust the height of the return to home elevation?

And what does 5 mean exactly. Sounds like it will store compass calibration for that location maybe?

It seems that the current battery level mentioned here is more like a built in flight timer with an estimated time remaining. My laptop does this. Need to update firmware on everything else and of course read the new user manual as well and test.

You could already do that in prior firmwares btw

a lot of people in locations with high magnetic declination couldn't get their phantom to fly straight. they would push straight forward and due to magnetic interference in the area the Phantom would think it was flying straight but it wouldn't. This bit is suppsed to improve that issue. If you weren't having it, you're not affected.

I'm disappointed there's no mention of improving the H3-3D I'm still having shoddy performance, can't tilt straight forward or the motors screech and whine and reset constantly

Posted this in Phantom 2 (non-vision) thread about the update. I just tested it (-16 here) and she is flying straight as an arrow :D

Where is the setting to adjust return home elevation? I don't see it anywhere...
