I recently got an iM2600 case from Amazon (US Hobby). It was a bit more than I wanted to spend ($219), but it has worked very well for my first trip with my P3P. I checked it for the first part of my trip, and took it as carry on for return trip. I flew on Delta.
On the outbound trip where it was checked, it did fine, though the gimbal lock came off in the case. I checked it because we were in a CRJ200, which has fairly small overhead bins. With a short layover, we didn't want to mess with gate checking.
For the return trip, I put a rubber band around the gimbal lock and gimbal, which provided enough load to keep it on though as carry on it probably didn't get banged around as much.
We'll see how it does on future trips.
