P3S - how flash gimbal circuit board?

Try swapping TX/RX.

Also I wonder why there are 3 UARTs on the encoder board..

Here it strongly suggests that Ambarella is at U0:

But here, none of the pads are described:

Maybe that was verified to be U0 only on P3X/P3S, and not on P3C?

Or maybe the chip doesn't show anything on UART before the bootloader from NAND?
Make sure you start the terminal first, and then enable power to the board.

Did some test on the dongle connecting TX and RX together. In Putty I can see what I type so TX/RX are working.
On the circuit board not sure if I connected the correct service pads for RX/TX, I used U0TX and U0RX but I see other pads like U2 and U3 so not sure I used the right ones.

Not sure what to do next. Shall I try the other Uart pads? Or may be reduce the voltage on the Amberalla board using 3v rather than 5v? really do not know..

Ambarella uses 3.3V i/o. I mean it uses what is connected to it as I/O supply voltage, but I'm pretty sure it's 3.3V on that board.

@bulbo77 I read your post on the Amberalla issue you had. Would you have any suggestions how to fix the issue I have, it could be I need to reprogram the nand but the chip connected with uart is unresponsive. thanks!

@Halda I read your post and I understand you may know a way to fix Amberalla on a P3 standard. Can you help please?

Hi. I’m following this thread with interest because I have a P3S with the same problem. Unfortunately I don’t have much electronics knowledge to contribute.

I bought my P3S a year ago and knew that the camera feed wasn’t working but was not concerned as I wanted it for drone fishing (remote bait drops) and I use the map on screen. When it arrived, it was in mint condition so I more or less ruled out crash damage as the cause. The seller said it had been sitting unused for 3 or 4 years. I was later told that it was usual for this drone to loose it’s video feed if stored unused for a long period of time. Since then I have encountered a couple of other P3S with no feeds after long storage so it seems to be true.

Now I’ve become rather fond of my funny old ‘vintage’ drone and would like to get it fully functional. I’ve read everything I can find on this issue including Quaddamage’s very long thread on fixing P3p/P3a but have been reluctant to get started until I see an end-to-end record of someone doing a successful fix - so thank you Cuboide for being the Guinea pig.
Cheers

@Bangaroo
You been hanging around hear since 12/2023?
Welcome to the Forum!
I have fought many P3S signal problems.

I recommend you starting a new thread called P3S Signal Problems.
In this section,
You will get a lot more attention starting your own thread.

There is a lot of knowledge here, the members are great.

Post every thing from I bought, to the end..

Rod ..

UPDATE
Camera issue sorted. All working including SD card being read.
I changed the camera encoder board, bought second hand from China.

That great ! Thanks for the update. *(many members don't update, so we have no idea of the outcome) Great job hanging in there and troubleshooting the issue. 👍👍

somebody mentioned also @jiminyfixit for additional support. Jimi in case you want joint the forces🙂
Thanks for the ref Cuboide. I realize this is a July 4 post, but I have some questions of my own regarding the P3 Std. that's why I just jumped on the forum after a long hiatus.

I haven't found anybody that re flashes the P3 Std as yet, so I guess the 15 boards I have with no video or wifi are to to have to languish a bit longer.

I have been having similar issues with my P3Std test drone after not firing it up for about 4 years. I've had great difficulty getting wifi, hence, no video either. I have a "new" main board coming, but there are no guarantees it will even work. I'll post back with info if successful.

Right now I am wondering if anybody has experience with the roll & pitch boards as far as swapping out part numbers. I have 3 different P01072 roll boards. P01072.05 P01072.06 & .07. The reason I'm curious is because I'm in the process of testing & inventorying all my P3Std. ESC boards to sell. I want to make sure I don't make a mistake by selling a customer a mismatched board to what they currently have. This has never been an issue with all the P3Std cams I repaired in the past, but noting all the different part numbers now, has created angst. The same question goes for the pitch boards. P01073.07 vs WM320 Gimbal Driver Pitch. AND, final question are all the P3 boards interchangeable? I never came across any issues because when I repaired a Std. I only had Std. parts on the bench. Same for the Pro & Advanced.

BTW, I will be inventorying ALL my P3 cam parts for sale since repair requests have basically ended for me. This started after covid with all my current repairs are P4 related. Time to thin out the herd.

Thank you Cuboide for the reference. I just saw this post about reflashing the main board because I have a dozen boards with no video AND wifi seems to go away too. I've never ventured into the reflashing arena because there are several smarter folks out there than me and I am in the process of going through all my inventory for liquidation.
