I have watched some videos on extending my video link so I purchased a couple of pig tails and an antenna and opened the range extender. I unplugged one of the existing antenna pig tails and unsuccessfully tried to
plug in the new pig tail. Put the extender back together and the system light fails to flash, indicating unit is inoperable. Help

You say you unsuccessfully tried to plug in the new pig tail. That's your problem. Maybe you could give us a little more info.

If you power the extender without an antenna attached, there is a risk that you could fry the transmitter. That might have been what happened. You can replace them for around $50.
