I want to extend the range of my Phantom's FPV without messing with the original repeater. So I found a couple of routers that are capable of replacing the original repeater, and I can modify them whichever way i want. (Replace antenna's, add boosters, etc) These are the routers:

Code:

Code:

So two questions:

1. What is the feature required on a router, to make it compatible to replace the Phantom's repeater?
2. Do you know of any other routers that can replace the Phantom's repeater, preferably cheaper?

Thanks

I had experience boosting an FC40 Phantom with an Amped wireless SR10000 range extender. They are very good and easy to configure. The configuration is "sticky"... do it once and your done forever.

The Phantom FC40 uses the same wireless signal as the P2V+, so this is totally do-able, and I tried it. There was no improvement in reception with the P2V+. The amped wireless repeater isn't much better than your stock Phantom wireless repeater, without mods. Using the antennas that come with the SR10000 does not give you any real increase in range. For that, you have to use a signal amplifier, or better antenna from FPVLR or similar sites. '

Using the SR10000 will make it very easy to add the antennas, as they just screw into the back of the Amped SR, while avoiding any modding of the stock Phantom Wifi repeater, so if you really have "Ham-hands", maybe its a decent way of avoiding having to mod. You'll still have to fabricate a portable power supply, unless you keep the thing plugged into a wall (easy to do with some $5 battery packs from Radio Shack).

But, the mod on your stock P2V+ is pretty easy to do in about a half hour. FPVLR.com has a package for the P2V+ at $119

That package gives you increased range and antennas for less than an SR10000 and upgraded antennas. Even if you go that route, you will increase the range of the Camera without increasing the range of your Phantom controller, which would require you to mod the transmitter to install a longer range "control" antenna to take advantage of the increase in camera range.

To increase control and video range, you might consider this: http://fpvlr.com/shop/index.php?route=p ... uct_id=103

In summary, going with the repeater will save you the difficulty of modding, but you will have the pain of carrying around repeater and its power supply for total higher overall cost without increasing control range.

Just do the mod, you won't be sorry.

Oh, terribly sorry. Your welcome, by the way.
