I was just flying in a normally clear area free of GPS issues and my p3 switched to p-opti mid flight and i had alot of difficulty controlling it in some higher breezes 15-20 mph. It came back after a few seconds but just wondering if anyone has had this happen. I was very concerned it was going to fall out of the sky on a house 2000 ft away.

When in P-OPTI mode and you're too high to use VPS, you're going to be flying like you're in A-mode. GPS is not assisting in that flight mode, so you're going to have to manually adjust the Phantom's position when the wind blows it off course.

Is it normal for this to cut out at 200 ft in air ?

Actually the better question is will return home work in that situation/will it still level off if i release controls obviously it will drift but at least hold altitude.

No. You should have better GPS satellite reception when at higher altitudes. Perhaps there was some kind of interference in the area.

No. Your Phantom is only able to return home with the help of GPS.
